Every student matters.

This is the philsophy that shapes my work in student affairs. In the personal statement with which I applied to Bowling Green State University's College Student Personnel Master's Program, I claimed "being a positive force in the life education and transformation of college students is the most energizing and fulfilling work I can imagine, and I am instantly energized when the alarm clock goes off on work days." More than two years later, that statement continues to ring true. I am excited to share the work of those two years in this portfolio.

Colleges & Universities

Those who work in student affairs often joke that everyone's journey to this work was much the same. We were doing something else until a mentor said, "you know, you should really think about working in student affairs." For me, I was preparing to teach high school English, and that mentor was Mindy Maddux. Trading To Kill A Mockingbird for Student Services was among the best decisions I have ever made.
